Guarantees and Service


1, Guarantees

Subject to the conditions set out below Sash Windows UK guarantees that the goods supplied will be free from inherent defects in materials and workmanship for a period of:

Softwood products	5 years *
Hardwood products	10 years **
uPVC products
Moving parts (locks, handles, hinges, spiral balances, sash cords, pulleys, fasteners, etc)	10 years
Sealed double glazed units	2 years

Supply Only

Supply & Installation
All as above in respect of materials and manufacturing workmanship and additionally in respect of installation workmanship, 10 years.

Conditions
Minor swelling or shrinkage and nominal natural defects that do not effect the performance of the product are excluded.

The guarantee is for normal conditions of service within the Operational Area. Products intended for use outside of the Area may require special finishing and this should be brought to the attention of Sash Windows UK prior to manufacture.

Capital Sash shall be under no liability in respect of any defect arising from subsidence, heave, ground movement, storm damage, wilful damage, negligence or neglect or failure to follow Sash Windows UK' issued maintenance instructions, misuse, acts of terrorism, Acts of God and/or unauthorised repairs or alterations.

Transfer
All guarantees are transferable to new owners without charge.

Timber Grading
Timbers are graded as * "moderately durable" and ** "durable."

The test for grading is to drive an untreated stake into the ground, if it takes between 10 & 15 years for the stake to rot and fall, then it is "moderately durable." If it takes between 15 & 25 years, then it is "durable."

As the test is with untreated timber that is in contact with the ground, it follows that properly treated and maintained timber in a normal situation will last for many more years.

Indeed, there are many thousands of both softwood and hardwood windows that are well in excess of 100 years old.


Service

Sash Windows UK maintain mobile Service Engineers throughout the Operational Area.

Service requests are accepted and booked by telephone and, subject to the terms of the guarantee, are free of charge during the guarantee period.

Calls are booked on a geographical "service run" basis on a 3 week rotation. This means that under normal conditions, for non-urgent minor problems, you can expect to be offered an AM or PM weekday appointment within 3 weeks.

In the event of a major problem, such as the window becoming a security risk, we will genuinely make every effort to attend within 24 hours.

If we are unable to offer a reasonable response time then, subject to the terms of the guarantee, the Customer shall be entitled to instruct another contractor to carry out emergency repairs and Capital Sash will refund to the Customer the reasonable costs thereof.
